ARIYO

Carrying Two Truths at Once

An Installation by Two Bags

ARIYO is an evolving art installation exploring duality, lineage, and the emotional architecture of womanhood.

Presented during Women’s History Month at Talley Dunn Gallery, this first chapter of Two Bags is not a traditional retail launch. It is a spatial narrative where fashion becomes language, objects become archives, and ownership becomes participation.

The installation unveils the inaugural collection of eight bags, each named after a woman who shaped my life. Names as resistance. Design as memory. Scarcity as reverence.

At the center stands the Rose Dual Tote.

Named for my grandmother and my daughter — both Rose — this piece embodies inheritance, labor, dignity, and futurity. Constructed in homage to my Kenyan lineage and the dualities that shaped me, it marks both origin and intention.

Only 254 Rose Dual Totes will ever be made, a symbolic limitation honoring Kenya’s country code. I was born in Nairobi, and much of this brand is rooted in reconciling the dualities that shaped me — Luo and Luhya, Kenya and America, sport and softness. This number marks a return to origin. It signals that this brand, though global in ambition, will never detach from where it began.

This piece cannot be reserved online.

Reservations for the Rose Dual Tote are available exclusively within the ARIYO installation.

Visitors will receive a keepsake program containing a private QR code and instructions to reserve the Rose Dual Tote. Full reservation payment secures the bag and permanently alters the installation’s living archive.

Walls empty. Roses wither. Ownership leaves a visible trace.

All other pieces from the collection will be available online.

But the Rose Dual Tote, the origin, may only be claimed in person.

ARIYO is not a pop-up.

It is a living archive.

A reclamation of soft power.

A diasporic legacy project.

It is not a retail launch.

It is how story is carried.

To experience it is to witness the beginning.

To reserve is to become part of the lineage.
